Stay to play requires teams to book through the tournament's housing partner as a condition of entry. It reliably captures lodging revenue, and it is also the single most common complaint families make about travel tournaments, because it removes their choice and often costs them more. Capturing the same spend by being the easiest option, rather than the mandatory one, avoids that fight entirely.

More than the block suggests, because occupancy runs high. Families and siblings share, teams double up, and coaches travel too. Working from travelling athletes rather than total registrations, and using a realistic people-per-room figure, usually produces a room count well above what a first-time block was sized for.
